My Trip To Jordan

My trip to Jordan was three weeks ago now. I feel awful that I have not posted about it yet.  I did start writing about it but once I realized that I was only on day three and eight pages in, I decided to finish writing my story for myself and give you guys the short of the long of it. So here you go...
The highlights of the story of two sisters alone in Jordan for five days.
An adventure to say the least.
Day 1 Amman:
 We had arrived very early in the morning so waking up to the site of Amman was amazing.

Jerash : A Roman city just north of Amman. Said to be one of the most preserved Roman cities in the Near East. We were surprised at how large it was but it was beautiful!

Having dinner and tour with our distant Jordanian family in Amman. The food was fantastic. We ate chicken heart! After dinner the two eldest daughters in our aunts brother in laws brothers family took us out shopping. We learned that in Amman stores do not close until very late. At some stores a new shift will come in at 10 pm. There were soooo many shoe stores! I was amazed at how each store had something new. It was honestly too over whelming I couldn't make any decisions.

Day 2 Amman-> Petra:
Petra:  The lost but not so lost city.  It was found in 1812 by a Swiss explorer named  Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. Since 1985 it has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site being quoted as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage"
It was truly amazing. The best part was that you were free to roam where ever you wanted. If you saw a cool cave you could climb right into it, noone was going to stop you. It felt like a giant play ground. We learned that Bedouins do actually live in Petra and most likely in the caves we may have pocked our heads into. We experienced Petra by day, with tea, on donkeys, by foot, at sunset, and at night. It was filled with such character, love, and colour.  Such a beautiful place.

Day 3 Petra-> Wadi Rum:
Where to start with the adventures we had in Wadi Rum aka the middle of the desert.
Camel rides, Jeep rides, Driving off sand dunes, watching the sunset, playing in sand dunes, sleeping under the stars, making new friends, being scared for our lives, visiting T. E. Lawrences house. Wadi Rum was non stop excitement. Probably one of the main high lights of the trip.

Yes that is me driving a Jeep through the desert.

Bedouin style dinner. Cooked under the sand. So cool and so good!
Day 4 Wadi Rum-> Dead Sea:
After spending the night in the desert we decided that we deserved a real bed and a shower. We left Wadi Rum and shared a car with our friends to the Dead Sea where we booked our selves a night at the Movenpick resort. We decided to spend this day at the resort swimming in the dead sea and having mud baths.

Such a tourist I know but I had to.

Sunset over Israel
Day 5 Dead Sea:
Today we checked off every tourist site in the Dead Sea like it was our job. We arranged a drive to take us to each destination so we did it all. We started off the morning with going to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ.  It was interesting to learn that since the site is in the "red" area between Jordan and Israel that both sides have the tour however the one in Israel is a replica. We were so close that when we got to the river Jordan you were allowed to go in the water however there was security making sure that you did not go past a certain point.

A HUGE WATER RAT. Actually makes me sick looking at this.
Then we went to Madaba which is the city of mosaics. We went to this fabulous shop where they take you on a mini tour of how they produce all their work, (which is all hand done) and then you entire the store to go shopping. That's where we did most of our gift shopping.

From there we went to Mount Nebo. From the top of it you have a panorama of the Holy Land.

 We did not spend too much time there because we had to rush to make it to this water hike we wanted to do. It was called the Wadi Mujib siq trail.  Its a trail that takes about 2 hours to walk. There is only one way in and out and what you do is walk and climb some water falls which leads you to one large waterfall which you just stand under. Then when you are ready you make your way back. The current was pretty strong walking up but to go back was alot of fun because you just float on your back and let the current bring you down.
We were not fully aware of to what we were getting out selves into to. We knew we would be getting wet but began to learn the truth once the people running the trail questioned us going in so much clothing. It was absolutely amazing. Since we were in water we were unable to take any pictures but this one gives you an idea of what it was like. Since we went so late in the day we were the only people.

My trip to Jordan was one of the best trips I have ever been on. It is such a beautiful country I urge you all to consider visiting it one day.
