Florence, Italy

This week I decided that I was going to check out Florence. I went for a short trip but I felt that I was able to see almost everything I wanted to so it was enough for a first trip.
A few main points about Florence:
1. WAY TOO MANY TOURISTS. I think that I would enjoy Florence way more in the winter time with less people and some snow adding to the beauty of the city.
2. It is the city of vintage stores! I knew there was going shopping but i was impressed by all the fantastic vintage stores.
3. Its very compact, skinny streets, and everything is walking distance.

That's about it. I didn't even bother to try and go into all the main tourist attractions. I felt bad not seeing David but like i mentioned ill go back another time and actually be able to enjoy it.
I did however grab a business card of all my favorite stores i visited so if you end up in Florence and want to escape the main tourist locations try some of these great finds:
Boutique Nadine -> Via Lungarno Acciaiuli 22r
http://www.boutiquenadine.it/
Santo Spirito -> Via Santo Spirito 50r
Le Conquiste -> Via Borgo San Frediano 27/29 rosso
Senzaporta -> Via S.Agostino, 36r
Vado Retro -> Piazzetta P.Calamandrei, 2r
Pitti Vintage -> Borgo degli Albizi, 72/r
http://pittivintage.com/
Le Bolgetta -> Corso dei Tintori 28 r.
L'Chiodo Fisso Vintage Store ->Via Dell'Anguillara 39/R
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100002540230558
( this one was one of my favorites. Its all vintage but part of the stuff has been remade by the owner. He buys things that cuts them up, adds studs, etc and makes a simple jean jacket a bad ass rocker jacket. It was all done really well too. I actually ended up buying a sweater from him. Ill get some good pictures of it on me and post it at some point. Some of the cool things he does it mix and matching the fronts and backs of t-shirts. Another plus about this store is that there was a guy playing guitar at the back just hanging out. haha it was a cool place, newly opened in Florence so make sure you check it out)
Desii vintage ->Via De'Conti 17/19/21r ( This was also a great store! There was a mens and a womens store so great!)

Vintage stores aside you are in the land of Pucci and Ferragamo so do your self a favorite and make sure you pop into their stores. Ferragamo is huge and has a museaum in the basement.

When you want a break from shopping stop in for a snack and drink at the Roberto Cavalli Bar -> Via Della Spada 10/r
http://caffegiacosa.it/

When you want the best pizza in Florence head over to  Il Pizzaiuolo -> Via De'Macci, 113/r ( seriously worth it)

For a laid back aperitif go to Perseo Bar -> P.zza Signorie 16/r
For a nice meal go to Ristorante Buca Mario -> Piazza Ottabiani, 16r

Its a Bugs Life

Since I have had no class for the past two weeks in Milano I have been making an effort to go to all the museums and art galleries there are in town. Including the Museo di Storia Naturale. It was actually really fun, especially since I was there at the same time as a field trip of grade 6 students.
It was cute to see how much they were loving it. Then made me question if i was too old to be at such a place alone? hahah
I didn't care though, it was surprisingly inspiring and I have tones of pictures of bugs, animals, and butterfly's. Kick started a number of new designs and colour inspirations.
This one bug i found interesting. Doesn't its shell look strangely familiar...
Inspiration for shatter nail polish??
