GIRL

After our adventures at the Spoke Club we made our way down to FAT. As we were waiting for the fashion shows to start we walked back into the front room to notice a band was getting ready to perform. As  I am not as in-tuned with the music industry as I should be, I was unfamiliar with the band that was up.
What really interested me though was there outfits. Each one matching, white Converse, white jeans, white t-shirt, with White with black detailing tuxedo jackets ( which i learned were vintage men of honor wedding jackets), and black Ray Bands. It was simple yet such a strong look. Of course me being the sucker-for-well-dressed-men that I am was curious as to what was going to come next so I decided to stop and listen. Turns out these men have style and talent! I instantly compared them to the Stokes but this may be because they are my favorite band. I learned from speaking with Olivier the drummer after the show they do listen to the Strokes so my biased comparison wasn't too far off haha.
Their show was amazing but we had to run to out short to get our seats for the fashion show but afterward we went for drinks at the Drake. Even after the show they all had vintage bomer jackets keeping the four of them cohesive.  They certainly have a good handle on how to get themselves an image. Style aside they are extremely friendly boys, have a great sense of humor, and absolutely love what they are doing.
Here are some of the images from the night but be sure to check out their website!

Textuality

Last night was a wonderful night out with my ladies. We started out night at the Spoke club for The Monika Schnarre Eyewear Collection Launch Event. Such a lovely event, great crowd, wonderful candy bar, and cool glasses. We ended up meeting one of the producers of Textuality and got the films story first hand. She was such a interesting, entertaining, and wonderful lady. Her girlfriends were just as awesome. It was really cute it seemed as if they thought of us as younger versions of them, it was an absolute pleasure chatting with these ladies. If you havent heard of Textuality yet here is the trailer, its a Canadian Independent film so go out and support!

Nail Art

Getting manicures are enjoyable of course but I am not one for having nail polish on my finger nails. Toe nails sure, but when its on my fingers unless it is perfectly fresh and well done it bothers me. I have always been interested in the nail polish trends and the super cute designs people do but it wasn't until I read Amy Verners article on the seasons nail styles in the Globe and Mail that I had the desire to go out and give my nails a makeover. I tried a couple different looks over a couple months but after it all I still prefer my nails the way they are. Clean, squround ( Square and Round. What my manicurist calls the way i like them filed), and at a healthy length.

Here are some of the colours i experimented with....

1 4 U .2 4 ME.

I confess this has been the longest I have gone without blogging since I started up Colle Luci. I feel awful but the end of this semester was jam packed of work, work, events, work, and more work. Haha anyways I am done school for summer so I can get back to my regular blogging. To bring you up to date with what has gone on in the past couple of weeks here are some highlights...

I attend the much anticipated Zenith + Nadir Mass Exodus 2011. This was a wonderfully put together show! I knew all the girls that were involved in the production and I was so impressed and proud to be surrounded with such talented people. I do want to note that the Theater School does have a very important role with Mass Ex as well. I feel that they tend to get pushed aside when it comes to the praise given to the show. I dont know the extend of their work but I do know that they build the sets and that they are a very important part of the show.
In terms of the clothing in the show. Ill be honest, I was not blown away by anything. I did however take notes during the show ( which is important since there were around 60 different collections its impossible to remember haha) and I have my top favorites and the notes I was able to jot down.

April 13th was the fashion show for my evening wear dress. The show was called Wanderlust and it was held at the Arcadian Court. It was a lovely event and was great to see all my class mates out of our usual studio attire. It showcased the evening wear dresses as well as the menswear collections. To be honest I have a hard time describing how I really felt about the event and about my dress. Anyways ill leave you with some of my favorite outfits from the mens collections.

Two days after my first fashion show I had my first art exhibition. This event was called Ecdysis.  It was an exhibition of the final assignment of Ryerson University's School of Fashion Advanced Illustration class. I was surprisingly happy with my work and it was quite a lovely and impressive event. These are images of my piece and two of my friends. All photos are from http://intimacii.wordpress.com/2011/04/16/ecdysis/
