Seat Your Self

20 years in Toronto and i am still thrilled about how the city surprises me! The other day i went to lunch  at Jamie Kennedys Gilead Cafe & Bistro. I felt that I had escaped into one of the cafes i search for in NYC.  Its in the east end of town, hidden into a street the size of a laneway. A very rustic interior with wall panels of old barn wood and a massive chalk board wall as the menu. The food was delicious, i even bought a little something to go. These pictures high light my favorite parts of the place but check out Mr.Kennedys website.

STREETCARSTYLE

I have this awful problem that when i see someone wearing something that i like i have to tell them and usually take a picture.
These all just happened to be on the streetcar.

 One of my favorites!
Not a good picture at all but i still like it

This was werid!!! There two girls sitting next to each other got on at different times and didn't know each other but were wearing the SAME thing. Same hair colour, scarf colour, sweater.. it was totally crazy but i loved it. I wonder if they noticed? haha
I love this for two reasons. The style of the knapsack and the army green! I have seen this style of bag being used a lot lately and we all know the army look is in. (but when is is not?)

Breaking news about Mister Galliano

As of  8:22 this morning John Galliano was arrested for an alleged assault, as well as alleged anti-Semitic remarks. This has placed his position with Dior on suspension. Still waiting to hear the final word but here is a link of one of the articles...

Little Bit Of My Work

Grommet detail on the shoulder of one of my dresses. I was going to use studs at first but i like this waaay more! Added some chain in there as well.
This is my spider "bring" (Bracelet ring).. haven't thought of a better name yet but the way it works is that the thumb is the spider eggs, the middle finger the spider web, and the pinky is the spider. Unfortunately its a bit difficult and delicate to wear too often.
Sneak peak into one of my photo shoots. These are not my designs i was styling. It was for a magazine competition.
My favorite necklace... currently. I made this one not to long ago. I was looking through a bead store on Queen st. and i found this pendent and fell in love with it. I bought some chain, a clasp, and put them all together. It now means so much to me and that i wont even let a friend borrow it .

CHECKMATE

I am a fan of stripes and checks. Don't be scared to bend the rules!

COOL CAT

These pictures crack me up. As much as I have grown up since my days of reading Mickey Mouse its nice to see that some things never change.
Such a character.

COLOUR MY WORLD

In the stairwell in the ROM there is a beautiful collection of shells! This picture is not a great one so go check it out for yourself.

What i was trying to capture here was the orange of the carpet against the green of the books on the shelves. It is much stronger in person. I believe this was on the top floor of the Toronto Reference Library at the back near the windows.. i clearly wasn't getting much studying done :/

VALENTINES

I know this one is late and that people really don't enjoy hearing about Valentines day but these pictures are too cute not to post. I personally enjoy Valentines day so i like making the best of it...and apparently so does my mom. She is hilarious, she honestly becomes Martha Stewart around any holiday or event.
A book about love and a lovely hand made card from my dad. The chocolate was my favorite part but dont tell haha Just kidding

heart shaped tortellini was a high point

Nadege is a reoccurring theme

This I actually spotted this the other day but i figured i would add it to this post. Everyone could use a "street heart"

FOOD photography

Over the past couple of months I have started to notice that i take A LOT of pictures of food. I find this sort of bizarre as it is really seemed to come out of the blue. It is certainly not anything past a hobby, nor am I really a "foodie" but i find for the most part its the composition, the lighting, texture and the colour that catches my attention. Its does relate back to fashion in a way though. I have this wonderful App on my phone called Color Capture by Benjamin Moore, and how it works is that i can take a picture of something then put it into this app and it will give me the code for the colour i have captured. It is possible that subconsciously these images are giving me colour inspiration for my designs. Who knows but i love it so here are some of my favorites from the past 6 months ...
